Skating for Kids

Safety

Skating is a balancing activity so falls do occur. It is compulsory that juniors wear safety pads and a helmet at all lessons. If you forget to bring safety gear don't ask to skate as a refusal often offends.

Outdoor Private Lessons

Kids

Are normally held at Bellahouston Park, elsewhere by arrangement. Children only enjoy an outdoor lesson in good weather conditions. The lesson lasts about 45 mins, shorter if the child wishes to stop. There is a nominal charge of £10, skates and pads can be supplied at no extra charge. You must bring a helmet, (cycle) you will not be allowed to skate without a helmet. Minimum age 6yrs. (Note: Children joining group classes need to take a private lesson first if they cannot stand on skates and move forward unaided.)

Indoor Private Lessons

Are held in Glasgow, elsewhere by arrangement. Children enjoy indoor lessons skating on the smooth skater friendly floor and make good progress. The lesson lasts up to an hour, shorter if the child wishes to stop. The lesson costs £25 and includes the hall hire charge, skates and pads can be supplied at no extra charge. You must bring a helmet, (cycle) you will not be allowed to skate without a helmet.

Family Skating

Currently, family skating is permitted during the Sunday morning skate session at the Arc Sports Hall, Cale Uni, Glasgow, from 10.00am to 12noon. There is no charge for a junior (preferred minimum age, 8yrs+) with a paying adult otherwise £5 charge applies. Note there are no formal junior lessons at this session but help is at hand to get juniors skating.
