QUAD LESSONS:  What goes around, comes around

Over the last few years there has been a resurgence of interest in roller skates (quads) mainly due to the success of roller derby and the reemergence of the Roller Disco scene. In the past Glasgow had a strong roller skate scene centred at the old Dennistoun Palais many, many years ago. After the Palais closed there was less roller skating activity plus the introduction of inline skates which became the preferred choice for outdoor skating. Many skaters started on quads as children and still find quads the easiest skate to use.

Although there are some significant differences between inline skating and roller-skating in quads, the general principles remain the same and many skaters enjoy both, swapping happily between inlines and quads, often becoming quite proficient skater no matter what skates they put on.

Where

Our skate lessons have moved to the Maccabi Sports Hall in Giffnock. See our lessons page. If you are starting to feel comfortable on your skates and prefer some informal instruction, then come along to the ARC SPORTS HALL, (our favourite venue) Caledonian University, Glasgow, and enjoy skating on the super smooth, easy learn, floor. We welcome new adult skaters at all levels of ability. If you don't require to hire skates (inlines only), no need to book just drop in.

When

We skate at the Arc Sports Hall on Sunday mornings, start 10.30am and usually finish at 12.30pm but this can change with University bookings.

Cost

Skate sessions cost £7 for adults, Seniors (65+) £5, Juniors (Under 16) £5
